Mighty Mighty Bosstones Do Spring Break

March 20 [10:00 EST] -- With a new album in stores, called "Let's Face It," The Mighty Mighty Bosstones have upped their visibility considerably recently.

In addition to playing a string of festival shows , the band turned in a set as part of MTV's "Spring Break" festivities in Panama City, Florida last week.

The band, which flaunted its affinity for ska years before the current resurgence, joked about their seeming veteran status among newer ska-tinged acts.

"We invented it," frontman Dicky Barret deadpanned.

When asked about the new wave of ska acts, Barret quipped, "Are you talking about the frauds and the copycats?... We laugh. We spit in their eyes. We mock them at every chance we get."

"They're pawns in our little game," Bosstone trombonist Dennis Brockenborough added.

Barret had similarly jocular jabs about the Spring Break crowd.

"I love 'em. God bless their hearts," Barret said. "I remember when I was in college, the best damn community college in Boston. I couldn't afford to go to Spring Break, and it's nice to go down there and entertain these rich little sniveling spoiled kids."
