Brief History

The Mighty Bosstones started out in 1985 when Nate was only 13. In 1986 They were featured on the Mash It Up comp, Razorbeat Records. The song that was featured was “the cave”, also on Devils Nite Out. They had to break up for a short time so that Nate Albert and Joe Gittleman could finish high school. When Nate and joe finished they re-formed. They wore plaid and suits which at first was a joke but now there is sorta a sentimentality. They originally they were called “the Bosstones” but they later found out that there was a Harvard acapella group from the 50’s with that name, so, a bartender friend came up with the “Mighty Mighty” part. In 1989 they recorded their first album “devils nite out” it was released in 1990 on Taang! Records, a Boston label. They then released a single for “Where’d you go?” and the “Where’d you go?” EP. In 1992 “More noise and Other Disturbances” was release. On this album Josh Dalsimer was replaced by Joe Sirois because he went off to college in California. They also added 2 new horn players, Kevin Lenear and Dennis Brockenbough. During that time they increased touring. Once they toured almost 11 months out of the year. In 1993 they signed with Mercury Records because they weren’t getting paid and they were getting treated badly. That year they release “Ska-core, the Devil, and More” which was mostly covers of bands like Minor Threat and SSD. They also released “Don’t Know How to Party” which has been their greatest success. in 1994 they released “Question the Answers”. IN the summer of 1995 they were one of the headlining acts for Lollapalooza. They also hosted MTV’s 120 Minutes and performed live. In 1997 they released “Lets Face it” and their their first single was “the impression that I get”. They have promised never to sell out and to always play clubs and to be the best ska-core band the world has seen and will always produce great music.
